Macleaya
microcarpa
Very tall perennial grown for its amazing foliage and airy inflorescence. Up to 8 feet tall, glacous blue stems and very large. lobed leaves, blue-green on top, downy-white underneath, with prominent veins. Flowers are a rosey-pink color and born in large loose terminal panicles. Flowers not incredibly ornate but the whole effect is very graceful and airy and light. Spreads under-ground via rhizomes, but not very aggressively. I just pulled unwanted sprouts out and they never came back nor requiered digging.
Flowering Time: mid summer
Zones: 4 - 9
Sun/Shade: full sun, but will tolerate part shade
Price: $5.00, pot size 3"
